On June 17, we welcomed a very special visit to MUCBO: the students participating in the “Your Sustainable Garden” project, an initiative by the Institut Ramon Llull as part of the educational programme “The Wave Generation”, created in 2024 by the Fundación Iberostar and the Clean Wave Foundation.
This programme aims to raise environmental awareness among high school students in Mallorca, through teamwork and the development of projects focused on sustainability and environmental conservation.
During their visit, the students presented a fascinating fold-out book created through their efforts: an educational guide on invasive species that threaten the biodiversity of the Balearic Islands, offering native plant alternatives as sustainable options. Each page of the book explains the origin of the invasive species, its negative effects, and how it can be replaced by a local species, along with planting tips, maintenance advice, and environmental benefits.
This valuable material will be available for consultation throughout the summer at the Botanical Institute, within the MUCBO facilities.
Congratulations to all the young participants for the outstanding work! And thank you for contributing your ideas and knowledge toward building a greener, more conscious future.
