The collections housed in the MUCBO are numerous and varied, with tens of thousands of specimens that become testimony to scientific research, or for future studies or exhibitions.
Conservation process
Un banc de germoplasma vegetal, és una col·lecció de material viu, en forma de llavors, espores, teixits, ADN, pol·len, o qualsevol identitat que podria servir per a reproduir una planta. La col·lecció es manté emmagatzemada en condicions especials per assegurar la seva supervivència durant llargs períodes de temps.
Herbarium
A herbarium is a collection of dried, pressed, and systematically organized plants, maintained under low humidity and disinfection conditions for their conservation. These plants are intended for botanical study and research.
Germplasm Bank
A plant germplasm bank is a collection of living material, in the form of seeds, spores, tissues, DNA, pollen, or any identity that could serve to reproduce a plant. The collection is stored under special conditions to ensure its survival for long periods of time.
Live Plant
In the live plant collections, the area visitable by the public, plants are distributed in ecological groups simulating the natural habitat where the species live.
