The MUCBO has been a beneficiary of a grant from the Consell de Mallorca within the framework of the call for aid to promote the use of the Catalan language in non-profit entities corresponding to the year 2026.
This award is part of a line of subsidies aimed at promoting the presence of Catalan in different social and cultural fields, with a total budget of 180,000 euros. In the case of the MUCBO, the grant has been allocated to web outreach actions and physical formats, with an awarded amount of 5,000 euros.
Commitment to Catalan and scientific outreach
The MUCBO maintains a strong commitment to promoting Catalan as a language of communication and outreach, especially in the scientific field. This line of work responds to the goal of bringing scientific knowledge closer to citizens in the territory’s own language, while reinforcing its use in specialized contexts.
Through this grant, the museum will be able to continue developing content, materials, and digital tools that promote the presence of Catalan, thus contributing to its normalization in the field of science.
The importance of language support policies
Public subsidies such as this aim to promote activities of social and cultural interest, in accordance with the principles of promoting public objectives and social utility. In this case, support for the Catalan language contributes both to social cohesion and to the dissemination of knowledge in the native language of the Balearic Islands.
From the MUCBO, we highly value this recognition and reaffirm our commitment to the Catalan language as a key tool for scientific outreach and connection with society.
