MUCBO Takes Part in the Follow-up Meeting of the European ARCHBOTANKA Project at IPHES

On May 16th, members of the MUCBO team travelled to Tarragona to attend a follow-up meeting of the ARCHBOTANKA project, held at the headquarters of the Catalan Institute of Human Paleoecology and Social Evolution (IPHES).

The meeting brought together representatives from the various institutions involved in the project’s international consortium, along with members of the funding bodies, within the framework of the MSCA – Staff Exchange (Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions) call of the European Union. During the session, the current status of the project was reviewed, past activities were evaluated, and the calendar of upcoming actions was outlined.

MUCBO’s educational team had the opportunity to present their work within the project, standing out as one of the most advanced initiatives so far. Special emphasis was placed on the work carried out during their stay in Sri Lanka (January–February 2025), where the activity “The Usefulness of Plants” began to be adapted to the local educational context. This effort laid a strong foundation for developing an intercultural educational resource for the school communities of the participating countries.

Finally, a brief mention was made of other research lines involving MUCBO, such as the wood sampling campaign in Mallorca and Cabrera, conducted in collaboration with the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle in Paris and the University of the Balearic Islands, aimed at creating a reference collection of charcoal.
