On November 14th, the exhibition PERMO-TRIES: When Life Almost Disappeared from Earth was inaugurated. This exhibition takes us back between 275 and 220 million years to discover what the continents, climates, ecosystems, and fascinating life forms were like during the Permian and Triassic periods in the Balearic Islands and Catalonia.
The exhibit also reveals the greatest impacts of the Earth’s mass extinction event, with up to 95% of species wiped out, and invites us to reflect on the current climate change.
Around forty people attended the event, including the Mayor of Sóller, Miquel Nadal, and the Vice President of the Foundation and Councillor for Culture, Antonia Frau from the Sóller Town Hall.
The exhibition has been funded by the “Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología (FECYT)” from the “Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades”.
