When data speaks: The heartbeat of Balearic Wildlife

The MUCBO | Museum of Natural Sciences will host a new temporary exhibition entitled WHEN DATA SPEAKS: THE HEARTBEAT OF BALEARIC WILDLIFE from May 24, 2025, to April 30, 2026. This exhibition gives voice to years of monitoring terrestrial wildlife in the Balearic Islands. It is based on the scientific project “Impact of Multiple Threats on Population Trends of Terrestrial Vertebrate Species in the Balearic Islands.” Using monitoring data collected over the years thanks to the joint efforts of public administrations, non-profit organizations, and research teams, the exhibition brings us closer to the reality of Balearic terrestrial fauna.

With a scientific and educational approach, “When Data Speaks” highlights the importance of long-term monitoring as a key tool to detect and prevent population threats, understand impacts, and guide conservation policies based on evidence. It is an opportunity to rediscover our natural heritage and understand how time and data help us listen to what nature is trying to tell us.

This work has been partially funded and promoted by the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands through the Ministry of Education and Universities, and by the European Union – Next Generation EU (BIO2022/003).
