On May 22nd, MUCBO held a workshop on traditional orange varieties, an activity originally planned for April 26th as part of the Self-Sufficiency Workshop Series, but postponed due to road closures.
The session, led by Llorenç Payeras, focused on exploring and appreciating ancient and local orange varieties, with particular emphasis on those native to the Sóller valley. Participants had the opportunity to discover and taste various types of oranges, while exchanging knowledge about their characteristics, uses, and historical context.
A highlight of the workshop was the demonstration and hands-on practice of a homemade method for preserving orange juice — a practical tool for making the most of this emblematic local fruit, fully aligned with the philosophy of self-sufficiency and household sustainability.
This activity was funded by la Conselleria d’Agricultura, Pesca i Alimentació del Govern de les Illes Balears, a través del Fons de Garantia Agrària i Pesquera de les Illes Balears (FOGAIBA)
