On May 14, MUCBO hosted the lecture “Discovering the biology of Spinosaurus mirabilis”, given by paleontologist and science communicator Francesc Gascó-Lluna, as part of the special program for the International Museum Day 2026.
Around twenty people interested in paleontology attended the event and enjoyed a dynamic and engaging talk. Gascó-Lluna, known on social media as El Pakozoico, shared with the audience details of the expedition to Niger carried out in 2022, explaining firsthand the harsh desert conditions, the logistical and scientific challenges faced by the team, and the particularities of fieldwork in such an extreme environment.
One of the highlights of the lecture was the account of the discoveries that led to the recent description of the species Spinosaurus mirabilis. The audience was able to follow the full research process, from fossil excavation to laboratory study and the reconstruction of the biology of this impressive dinosaur.
From MUCBO, we would like to thank the speaker for his extremely interesting lecture, through which he shared his knowledge in a nearly familiar atmosphere, combining scientific rigor with the emotion inherent to paleontological research, as well as for the kind words dedicated to our institution.
