Meeting of experts on entomological collections with the participation of MUCBO

The Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales in Madrid hosted a working meeting on scientific insect collections on X September, aimed at raising awareness and sharing knowledge about the importance of entomological collections in scientific research, as well as the most appropriate methods for preserving, cataloguing and studying specimens.

During the workshop, attended by Rafel Matamales, curator of the Museum, and Joan Díaz, scientific collaborator at MUCBO, participants presented collections from museums and scientific institutions across Spain and discussed possible improvements and the next steps needed to further advance work in this field.

The meeting marked the conclusion of the Sen-PollColl project, an initiative led by researchers from the MNCN which, throughout 2026, has sought to raise awareness of the importance of preserving these collections and to promote their digitisation.
