Last Wednesday, June 4, at MUCBO, we had the pleasure of hosting the presentation of the first two volumes of the Album of the Flora of the Balearic Islands, a joint work by biologist Margalida Llabrés and illustrator, science communicator, and nature lover Vicenç Sastre.
The event featured an introduction by Magdalena Vicens, curator of MUCBO | Botanical Garden, and was a wonderful opportunity to discover this project that combines science, art, and sensitivity with the goal of sharing the plant richness of our islands.
The two volumes include a total of 130 species of Balearic flora, with a special focus on endemics, through educational texts by Margalida Llabrés and detailed illustrations by Vicenç Sastre.
During the event, attendees were able to purchase signed copies, and MUCBO also received the generous gift of original illustrations by Vicenç Sastre — a gesture we deeply appreciate.
This dual publication is a precious tool for education, outreach, and fostering love for our natural environment. Whether you’re passionate about nature or scientific illustration, don’t miss it! It’s available for purchase in our shop.
