Last September 24, the MUCBO team travelled to Tarragona to meet with the IPHES team (Catalan Institute of Human Paleoecology and Social Evolution) and continue making progress on the European ARCHBOTANKA project.
The meeting also included the participation of members of the University of Peradeniya (Sri Lanka), who are currently undertaking a research stay at IPHES. This stay is part of the international exchange promoted by the project and provides an opportunity to continue sharing knowledge, experiences and methodologies among the different teams and territories involved in the project.
During the meeting, we reviewed the work carried out so far and followed up on the progress of the project, particularly the educational resource that we are developing to bring archaeology and botany closer to younger audiences. We shared ideas, reviewed the materials and proposed new approaches and modifications to continue improving this educational resource, with the aim of making it available to schools in Sri Lanka, Catalonia and Mallorca.
This international collaboration allows us to build bridges between territories and cultures through science, education, archaeology and botany, while highlighting the value of both natural and cultural heritage. In addition, during the meeting we began organising the team’s next stay in Sri Lanka, scheduled for January 2027.
