In this workshop, participants will create decorative candle holders using authentic traditional Japanese papers known as chiyogami.
These papers stand out for their beauty, delicate texture, and exquisite designs inspired by nature.
I will select chiyogami featuring floral motifs such as cherry blossoms (sakura), chrysanthemums (kiku), peonies (botan), and other iconic species.

During the workshop, we will also talk about the origin and tradition of chiyogami papers in Japan and the meaning of some of these flowers in Japanese culture, so participants can learn more about them.
This symbolic and cultural dimension naturally connects with the spirit of the Botanical Garden and with the MUCBO’s mission to promote knowledge of flora and its cultural value.

Each person will create two decorative glass candle holders in two different sizes and will take them home completed.
The technique learned during the workshop can later be applied to cover and transform other simple decorative objects made of glass or brass, as well as boxes and notebooks.
