Around the world in more than 80 plants: from Antarctica to the Arctic, passing through deserts and mountains, searching for… what the heck?

Dr. Jaume Flexas, professor at the UIB, member of INAGEA, and Scientific Director of the Sóller Botanical Garden, has studied the physiology of crops as important in the Mediterranean as grapevines and tomatoes, but also the physiology of wild vegetation in the Balearic Islands, with special attention to endemic species, and always maintaining direct contact with MUCBO as a “field of operations.” Since before 2015, he has focused on comparative studies of physiology across plant phylogeny and, especially, on the ecophysiology of plants living in extreme environments, at the limits of their own range, such as Antarctica, the Andes, the Himalayas, etc. He will discuss all this in his talk.
