The MUCBO will open its doors to the exhibition TRACING NATURE IN SILVER, by artist Jeannine Cook, which will be on view from May 8 to June 18 at MUCBO | Museum of Natural Sciences. Cook is an internationally renowned artist, specializing in the technique of metalpoint drawing, and her work is part of prestigious collections such as those of the British Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Fine Arts Museum of Houston, the Western Australian Museum, among others.
After being exhibited at the La Concepción Botanical Garden in Málaga, this show arrives at MUCBO with the aim of highlighting the flora and shared ecosystems of the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands.
The artist has showcased her work at various botanical gardens in the United States and is represented in collections such as those of the British Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, the Western Australian Museum, and the BAMPFA in Berkeley, California, among many others.
Cook regularly works with a wide variety of plants, creating artistic representations of trees and flowers in silverpoint or watercolor, with the aim of celebrating their beauty and raising awareness about the importance of preserving the environment. For her, drawing the plant world in silverpoint is an experience that connects her to a space of calm, balance, peace, and humility — a place where nature reveals its complexity through elegance and simplicity.
