Next Saturday, September 27th at 11:30 a.m., Xavier Canyelles will give a conference titled “Endemismes de les Illes” at the MUCBO, as part of the LITERANIT festival. Literanit is a multidisciplinary festival focused on literature and all its facets. It has been promoted since 2019 by the Francesc de B. Moll Institution. This year, 2025, marks the seventh edition of the festival, under the theme “Illes, centres i perifèries”, exploring the literary concept of insularity, not only in terms of physical or imaginary islands, but also as it relates to other human, literary, or experiential realities. Are islands the centre or the periphery? Are we the centre or the periphery? How do these realities intertwine within the complexity of today’s world?
Xavier Canyelles, author of guides such as “Peixos de les Illes Balears” and “Insectes de les Illes Balears”, and an illustrator specializing in natural history, will present a journey through some of the unique species of the Balearic Islands in his talk “Endemismes de les Illes”. He will share facts and characteristic traits with his signature tone -both educational and humorous- suitable for all audiences.
