MUCBO Receives the Golden Shield of the City of Sóller

On August 13, at Camp d’en Prohom, we experienced a historic milestone for MUCBO: the Sóller Town Council awarded us the city’s highest municipal honour, the Golden Shield of the City, in recognition of more than four decades dedicated to science, research, environmental education, and the conservation of natural heritage.

The ceremony was attended by local authorities, members of the scientific community, collaborators, and friends of the Garden and the Museum — all of whom have supported us throughout this meaningful and committed journey. The Mayor of Sóller, Miquel Nadal, and the Councillor for Culture and Environment, Antònia Frau, presented the award to the Foundation’s manager, Daniel Gallego, and the president of the Friends of MUCBO Society, Lluc Garcia.

With great emotion and gratitude, this recognition stands as a collective tribute to all those who, since the 1980s, have helped bring this project to life — and to the current teams who continue to care for and grow MUCBO as a living, dynamic space and a scientific reference point in the Balearic Islands.

This honour also serves as motivation to keep growing, researching, and sharing knowledge with the same commitment and enthusiasm that have guided us so far.

Our heartfelt thanks to the Sóller Town Council and to all the individuals, organisations, and collaborators who have made — and continue to make — this project possible.

The Golden Shield belongs to everyone!
