MUCBO will host, on June 10 and 11, a visit from researchers of the SEN‑PollColl project from MNCN-CSIC. This initiative aims to improve knowledge and conservation of pollinating insects in Spain through entomological collections, with the goal of connecting, digitising and enhancing these collections to support research, outreach and pollinator protection.

Two talks will be offered: a technical lecture on June 10 (registration required) and a public outreach talk on June 11.

TECHNICAL LECTURE:
Best Practices Manual for Entomological Collections

Adrián Sánchez and Marina González will present the essential criteria for the proper management and conservation of insect collections, highlighting their value as scientific heritage. Topics will include specimen management, preventive conservation, and restoration, as well as the key role of collections in scientific research.

The lecture will also highlight the role of these collections in outreach and education, contributing to a better understanding and protection of biodiversity.

This talk aims to bring the general public closer to knowledge about pollinators. CSIC researchers will explain what pollinators are, their diversity, the threats they face, and the role of research and museum collections in their conservation and recovery.
