On July 31st, we launched a new initiative in collaboration with the Societat d’Amics: the Natural Talks series at MUCBO — a programme that blends science, culture, and music to help us connect with nature through an open, interdisciplinary lens.
The first session, titled Eclipse 2026: A Survival Guide, sparked enormous interest. Both scheduled dates (July 31st and October 17th) quickly filled up, and a waiting list was opened for a possible third session.
Astronomy enthusiast and science communicator Pep Marcús Colom — teacher and president of Club Newton — captivated the audience with an engaging and accessible talk about the upcoming total solar eclipse on August 12th, 2026. Sóller will be one of the best observation points in Mallorca for this exceptional event. The session masterfully combined scientific rigour and popular culture, offering tools to understand and appreciate the phenomenon with both awareness and excitement.
The evening closed with a music selection personally curated by the speaker, followed by a small aperitif and an informal discussion with the audience, where questions and curiosities continued to flow in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
With such a strong start, Natural Talks is set to become a vibrant space for gathering — this time to look up at the sky… with our feet firmly on the ground.
