The MUCBO Summer Workshops 2026 continue to move forward with a programme that combines science, nature, and fun. We are already more than a month into this year’s edition, “The Richness of the Kingdoms.” Throughout July, children have embarked on a fascinating scientific journey, exploring a different kingdom of life each week. They first discovered the world of protoctists and then explored the evolution of the plant kingdom through lower plants, gymnosperms, and angiosperms. At every stage, participants became young scientists, observing samples, classifying species, and investigating the secrets of biodiversity.

The activities have combined hands-on learning with exploration of the natural environment. Participants collected samples to observe algae and protozoa, studied mosses and ferns in the Botanical Garden and museum, learned to identify conifers using dichotomous keys, and discovered the structure of flowers and the relationship between plants and their pollinators. All of this took place through workshops, crafts, experiments, models, theatrical performances, and activities adapted to different age groups.

But the summer has not been all about scientific research! It has also been filled with memorable shared experiences. Botanical excursions, cultural visits to the Maritime Museum and the Son Angelats Green Area, beach and swimming pool outings, sports activities, and the ever-popular water games have made these weeks full of adventure. Children also enjoyed special visits, including one from Pep Marcús of the Newton Astronomical Club, who introduced them to the mysteries of the universe, and another from professional volleyball player Rafel Tugores.

Another highlight was the road safety session led by the Sóller Local Police, which helped participants learn important safety habits in a fun and interactive way. Through this combination of learning, play, and direct contact with nature, the MUCBO Summer Workshops continue to inspire curiosity in young people and encourage them to discover the world around them while enjoying an unforgettable summer.
