{"id":9180,"date":"2025-09-22T10:12:51","date_gmt":"2025-09-22T08:12:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mucbo.org\/?p=9180"},"modified":"2025-09-22T10:19:38","modified_gmt":"2025-09-22T08:19:38","slug":"inauguracio-de-lexposicio-les-coves-uns-ambients-unics-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mucbo.org\/en\/inauguracio-de-lexposicio-les-coves-uns-ambients-unics-2\/","title":{"rendered":"EXHIBITION OPENING: \u201cCAVES: UNIQUE ENVIRONMENTS&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On <strong>October 7th at 7:00 p.m.<\/strong>, MUCBO will host the opening of the temporary exhibition <em>\u201cLes Coves: Uns ambients \u00fanics\u201d<\/em>, a showcase designed to bring the best-kept secrets of the Balearic Islands\u2019 underground world closer to the general public.<\/p><p>The exhibition offers an immersive experience into the biodiversity, geology, and history of the Balearic caves, through a visual and scientific journey that includes a life-size cave replica, enlarged models of cave-dwelling fauna, and six traveling thematic panels. These panels explore various disciplines that converge within speleology: zoology, paleontology, archaeology, geology, and the history of underground exploration in the Islands.<\/p><p>One of the main highlights of the exhibition is the realistic reconstruction of a cave, allowing visitors to closely observe the most characteristic rock formations, such as stalactites, stalagmites, and columns, as well as the environmental conditions that make this setting such an extreme and fascinating habitat.<\/p><p>In addition, the exhibition places special emphasis on cave fauna, focusing on endemic species found only in the caves of the Islands, and on their evolutionary adaptations to survive in such a demanding environment. It also highlights the key role caves have played as refuges for extinct species and as archaeological sites that help us better understand the past.<\/p><p>With a clear educational focus, the exhibition aims to present the latest published scientific findings about the underground world in an engaging, accessible, and visual way\u2014sparking curiosity and encouraging reflection on the fragility and need to preserve these unique environments.<\/p><p>The exhibition is partially itinerant and is part of a science outreach project supported by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology, F.S.P.
