To celebrate International Museum Day, MUCBO will host a very special talk on traditional Mallorcan cuisine as seen through Mallorcan folktales. This event, funded by the Consell de Mallorca, will be led by Dr. Caterina Valriu, professor at the University of the Balearic Islands and one of the leading experts in popular culture.

At 11 AM, Dr. Valriu will guide us on a fascinating journey to understand how Mallorcan folktales describe food, hunger, and the island’s culinary customs. She will speak about the feasts of kings and the humble meals of the poor, about the seasonal cycle of cultivated and wild ingredients like wheat, bread, oil, and olives, and about homemade recipes passed down through generations. But not only that—we will also discover the food of magical beings, where giants, with their insatiable hunger, play a starring role.

This conference offers a unique opportunity to see how folktales, beyond their fantastical narratives, provide deep insights into the roots of Mallorcan gastronomy and tradition. A journey through our cultural identity that brings together folklore, history, and traditional cuisine.

Don’t miss this unique experience that will offer a new perspective on Mallorcan cuisine and our cultural roots.
To celebrate International Museum Day, MUCBO will host a very special talk on traditional Mallorcan cuisine as seen through Mallorcan folktales.
